German and Thai, on one phone
ภาษาเยอรมัน และ ภาษาไทย บนโทรศัพท์เครื่องเดียว
For visits, family dinners and long calls with Thai-speaking relatives. You speak German, they speak Thai, and each of you reads and hears the other in your own language.
สวัสดีค่ะ ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก
Your words in Thai script, large, with a Thai voice reading them.Hallo, schön, dich kennenzulernen.
Their words in German, with the Thai underneath. What to expect
A short wait after each person pauses
Choose Patient for slower speakers, Quick for brisk chat. Captions show the words as they are spoken.
Mistakes happen
Names, places and numbers are where it slips most, and Thai clock times most of all. In our test run, หนึ่งทุ่ม (seven in the evening) came out in German as 22 Uhr. Check any time on the screen before you rely on it. You can type a correction, and the correction is spoken.
A quiet room helps
Television and other voices nearby make it harder to hear who is speaking.
Not for medical, legal or official matters
For those, use a professional interpreter.
