What to expect

  • A short wait after each person pauses

Choose Patient for slower speakers, Quick for brisk chat. Captions show the words as they are spoken.

  • Mistakes happen

Names, places, dialect and family terms can come out wrong. If something looks odd, say it another way.

  • A quiet room helps

Television and other voices nearby make it harder to hear who is speaking.

  • Not for medical, legal or official matters

For those, use a professional interpreter.

Questions

Does the English speaker need the app or an account?

No. They share your phone. Nothing to install, nothing to sign in to.

Is the conversation kept?

Can I use it at the doctor or for official papers?

No. For medical, legal or official matters, use a professional interpreter.

What does it cost?

Three minutes a day are free. Plans start at $5.99 a month for 3 hours. A Visit Pass is $9.99 for 10 hours over 14 days and never renews.
